Hello!
I’m Seamus, a landlord, a big fan of TheKey, and CEO of TurboTenant.
I own 18 units, 1 of which I own near my primary in Colorado and 17 with my two younger brothers and my father in Upstate NY, where I grew up. We purchased our first property in 2013 which was years before TurboTenant. The majority of our properties have been fixer-uppers with a lot of sweat equity going into them. We also put a lot of emphasis on positively impacting the neighborhood where our rentals are in Upstate NY. We do 4th of July cookouts for our tenants and neighbors and neighborhood clean-up days, and we celebrate the holidays with cards or just handing out candy canes. It has significantly impacted the neighborhood as we’ve seen more people investing in the properties nearby. Our tenant satisfaction is high, resulting in a more profitable business.
I have two real estate goals. The first is to create long-term wealth while doing our best to provide great homes for tenants. There are other, more passive ways to generate wealth, but for my family and me, I enjoy the people aspect of this. The second is to set an example for my kids, nieces, and nephews that a family that works together stays together. Owning the business with family can be a real pain in the *$$, but if we’re successful, it has an incredible opportunity to better all of us, which will be much more meaningful.
I’m excited to learn more about and from you all. I’m also incredibly grateful that you have elected to use TurboTenant to help manage your rentals. I hope we can play a role in making your business successful, and we certainly don’t take it for granted that you picked us.
Hi! Big fan of The Key! I’m new to the game and the Key has been a great resource for learning how to get started and navigate challenges like tenant communications, screening, compliance, and everything else that comes with being a landlord.
